The OFO collections thus far are focused on western U.S. conifer forests but also include a number of broadleaf-dominated stands. The catalog is available for hosting forest imagery datasets globally, and we happily accept new contributions. We are eager to expand to new regions and forest types.

Important data use restriction: The OFO has designated a stratified subset of approximately 20% of drone missions to be excluded from training ML models that are intended for use by the broader forest mapping/ML community. For such applications, these missions are reserved for use as test data for model evaluation and intercomparison. The missions to be excluded from training are indicated by the value ’true’ in the metadata column ‘withheld_from_training’. See our documentation of the data withholding stratification procedure.
